https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/RJSH/article/view/287389

Managerial competencies and effectiveness of local government agencies in Maha Sarakham are under increasing pressure to modernize administrative systems while maintaining public trust and community engagement. This study aims to examine the relationships between managerial competencies and organizational effectiveness in the context of smart local governance. Data were collected from 385 local government personnel, including both executives and operational staff, using stratified random sampling. A structured questionnaire (IOC = 0.80 – 1.00; Cronbach’s a = 0.891) was employed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that managerial competencies were perceived at a high level, particularly in transparency and communication and relationship building. Organizational effectiveness was also rated at a high level, especially in sustainability and ICT utilization, while data management and analytics showed relatively lower performance. Significant positive relationships were found between managerial competencies and organizational effectiveness (r = 0.536 – 0.831, p < 0.01). Transparency, public service effectiveness, and strategic thinking were identified as significant predictors, explaining approximately 80.4% of the variance in organizational effectiveness. These findings suggest that transparency, communication, and service-oriented competencies play a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of local government agencies. Strengthening data management and analytical capabilities is essential for advancing toward smart and sustainable local governance.
Ntapat Worapongpat

2026-05-112026-05-1181120Intergenerational Identity Dynamics of Overseas Chinese in Contemporary Thai Society: A Study through the Film "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies"
https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/RJSH/article/view/287952

This research examines intergenerational identity dynamics of overseas Chinese in contemporary Thai society through textual analysis of the film "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" (2024). Employing qualitative methodology within diaspora studies, hybridity theory, and identity as process frameworks, the researcher analyzed 12 key scenes across four dimensions: rituals, kinship systems, beliefs, and intergenerational relationships. Findings reveal that 1) intergenerational cultural transmission: The Amah-M relationship serves as a channel for transmitting filial piety values and business succession, with practical learning such as jok-making symbolizing cross-generational cultural transfer. 2) role of rituals and beliefs in identity maintenance: Despite structural assimilation, core cultural elements are preserved through rituals such as Gong Tek ceremonies, Feng Shui-guided burial selection, and beef abstinence, adapted to Thai contexts. 3) cultural hybridity dynamics: Thai-Chinese identity has evolved into a hybrid form through negotiations between Chineseness and Thainess, where younger generations reinterpret rather than reject their cultural roots, adapting meanings to contemporary contexts.
Atchara ChaianansinWassamon SermchuvitkulRapheephorn PhencharoenkitChatchuda JiranuntiphonXu JingZirivarnphicha Thanajirawat

2026-05-112026-05-11812133The Appropriate Lighting Design for Modeling Site of Round Relief Sculpture
https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/RJSH/article/view/279585

This research aims to study appropriate physical lighting conditions for sculpting workspaces of sculptures in the round. The findings are intended to improve teaching and learning in the Sculpture Program at Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, and to disseminate knowledge to individuals and organizations interested in sculpture. Data were collected using photographs and questionnaires, including information on the background and experience of sculpture experts, as well as their opinions regarding appropriate lighting conditions for sculpting. The informants consisted of experts, teachers, and independent artists in the field of sculpture. The results revealed that most informants shared similar opinions, indicating that sculptures in the round requires appropriate lighting to achieve accurate dimension, visual perception, and complete sculptural value. Proper lighting must follow certain principles, including the direction of natural light, the direction of artificial light, and the integration of both lighting sources. In addition, personal techniques developed by experts with more than 20 years of experience were also identified. All data were collected through interviews and field observations, and the findings provide practical knowledge for improving sculpting workspaces and studio environments.
Nattapoom MeeyenChaichan Jantasri

https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/RJSH/article/view/285073

This article employs qualitative research methods, combining documentary research with fieldwork through in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. Historical methodology and folklore studies serve as key interpretive tools to present the dynamic social transformation of Thai artisan communities in the Rattanakosin Island area. The research is guided by two main objectives: first, to study the characteristics and social development of Thai artisan communities in the Rattanakosin Island area within the context of contemporary society; and second, to analyze the dynamic factors influencing the existence and transformation of these communities in 2023–2024. The research findings reveal that the Thai artisan communities in Rattanakosin Island reflect the social dynamics of skilled labor groups who have been integrated into both traditional and modern Thai social structures. In early Rattanakosin, artisan communities were systematically organized within the capital city area, both for residential and functional purposes, supporting the production and transmission of artisanal knowledge. Over time, these communities evolved into more commercialized professional systems. However, as the physical space and social landscape of Rattanakosin Island changed due to social and cultural developments, many artisan communities either adapted or declined. Some groups were absorbed into modern lifestyles under the influence of four dynamic factors: the economy, urban management, political policies, and consumer behavior.
Manarada Silapabanleng
