ON-GOING STRATEGIES FOR STRENGTHENING LOCAL COMMUNITY’S HARMONY OF MONKS IN CHIANG SAEN DISTRICT, CHIANG RAI PROVINCE

Abstract

             Based on the participatory research, the major purposes of this study aimed to investigate the on-going strategies for strengthening the local harmony of monks in Chiang Saen district, Chiang Rai province. For research methodology, an interview, a group discussion, and a workshop were conducted with 15 monk deans in the district, monk deans of the sub-districts, and secretaries of monk deans. Also, the key findings were categorized and summarized in themes. The findings of the research revealed that the on-going strategies for strengthening the local harmony of monks in Chiang Saen district, Chiang Rai province was sorted into 6 aspects: 1) training activities on community dwellers’ dharma tournament project, 2) being impartial for conflict compromising, 3) cooperation with local organizations, 4) having well-manner, 5) establishing participation through social activities, and 6) setting community regulations.
