Synthesis of Graduate Theses and Development of Thesis Database System for Online Searching in Educational Administration of Phetchaburi Rajabhat University

Abstract

The objective of this research were to 1) synthesize the graduate theses, 2) develope a thesis database system for online searching, and 3) study the results of using the thesis database system for online searching. The samples used in this study were 82 research works of educational administration students who graduated during the academic year 2011-2019.  The target groups were 58 system users including 27 graduate educational administration students, generation 20-21, and 31 general users by purposive sampling. The research instruments were 1) the demanding questionnaire in the thesis database system for online searching, and 2) the acceptance evaluation forms of graduate thesis synthesis and development of a thesis database system for online searching. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. 

            The research results were as follows:

1. Data for the synthesis of graduate theses for online searching in Educational Administration Program, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University were collected from 82 theses. They were classified into 6 areas: independent variable, dependent variable, sample or target group, sampling, research design, and data analysis. It was found that: 1) classification by independent variable, administration was the most common factors (17.07%), 2) classification by dependent variable, school development was the most common factors (39.02%), 3) classification by sample or target group, the most commonly use was teachers (48.78%), 4) classification by sampling, the most commonly use was purposive sampling (53.66%), 5) classification by research design, the most commonly use was a quantitative research (70.73 %),  6) classification by data analysis, the most commonly use was regression (45.12%).


2. For the development of the thesis database system for online searching, the first step was determining the needs by using questionnaires to inquire about problems and needs from students, teachers, staff, and those involved. After that the researcher defined the system database that consisted of database operation diagram, display screen design, screen designe for the system administrators, and thesis searching model to be easy and convinient to use. The data storage of the thesis in electronic format was different from the original system which used the document for data storage and data searching.


3. The acceptance evaluation results of graduate thesis synthesis and development of thesis database system for online searching, as a whole, was at a high level, resulting in the thesis database system for online searching useful and could be used in educational administration program of Phetchaburi Rajabhat University.

This research finding showed that the thesis database system for online searching was useful for educational administration students. The system was designed in accordance with the content, so it was easy, convenient, and fast to find information. Thus, Educational Administration Program, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University should maintain this thesis database to be continuously effective.
