The Factors affecting educational achievement of undergraduate students in Public Administration Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University

Abstract

The research on factors affecting educational achievement of undergraduate students in Public Administration Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University aimed to study: 1) the level of educational achievement of students, 2) the level of factors affecting the educational achievement of students, and 3) the factors affecting the educational achievement of students. The research samples were 274 undergraduate students in Public Administration Program by simple random sampling. The instrument used in the research was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using mean, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression analysis. The research results were as follows:

1) For the level of educational achievement, students had a cumulative grade point average at 2.73, mostly between 2.51-3.50, totaling 158 students, or 57.7%. 2) The factors affecting the educational achievement of students consisting of 4 aspects: students, families, lecturers, and university environment, from the overall analysis result, were at a high level (   = 3.87, S.D. = 0.59). When each aspect was considered, the lecturer factor affected educational achievement the most and at a high level, followed by family, learner, and university environment factors affecting educational achievement at a high level as well. 3) The factors affecting educational achievement of students were personal, learning, lecturer, family, and university environment factors. The results of analysis revealed that the factors of students, lecturers, and university environment affected the learning achievement of students, whereas the family factor did not affect the academic achievement of students, with the coefficient (R²) = 0.221 and the adjusted coefficient (Adj.R²) = 0.210, and the multiple correlation coefficient = 0.470 with statistical significance at the 0.05 level.
