The Development of Basic Chinese Strokes Writing Skills through Practice

Abstract

The study's objectives were to 1) enhance basic Chinese stroke writing abilities through practice and 2) to improve students' achievement in basic Chinese stroke writing. 3) examine the students satisfaction with the learning exercise of basic Chinese stroke writing skills.. The sample comprised 100 Chinese language students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Phetchaburi Rajabhat University in the second semester of the academic year 2022. The research materials included: 1) basic Chinese stroke writing skills exercise; 2) a pre-learning and post-learning exam on basic Chinese strokes; and 3) The students’ satisfaction assessment form for the exercise. The results revealed that 1) the general development of basic Chinese stroke writing skills was 81.58/87.30 in conformity with the stipulated requirements (E1 and E2). 2) A comparison of students' academic performance scores on the correctness of the basic Chinese stroke writing skills found that students had higher scores on the accuracy of basic Chinese stroke writing skills after learning than before, the average score for basic Chinese stroke writing skills was 11.16 (55.80%), whereas the post-test score was 17.80 (89.90%). 3) The survey results of the study group on their satisfaction with basic Chinese stroke writing skills with advanced exercise were at a high level  (𝒙̅ = 4.40).
