A qualitative approach was employed using Participatory Action Research (PAR) with 20 local community leaders and stakeholders, selected through purposive sampling. A quantitative survey was also conducted with 400 senior tourists visiting Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District. Findings indicate that the tourism routes have historical significance, feature woodcarving craftsmanship, and are located along the Chao Phraya River. The local community is strong and receives support from administrative organizations. To enhance wellness tourism, we developed the “Senior Wellness Tour” program (2 days, 1 night), designed for elderly tourists by ensuring convenience and minimizing exhaustion. The inclusion of traditional Thai massage was recommended to enrich the health-related experience. Regarding tourism promotion, most senior tourists are women aged 60–65, traveling with family by private car on holidays. They primarily obtain travel information through social media. The evaluation of tourism activities and promotional strategies received high ratings. Social media, particularly the LINE application, was identified as the most effective promotional tool. A guidebook, “Thai Lifestyle Tourism for Seniors,” was already developed and disseminated via LINE to promote wellness tourism. These findings highlight the strong cultural and geographical potential of wellness tourism in this heritage city. Further development of tourism routes and activities tailored to senior tourists, along with digital media as the main promotional platform, is recommended to maximize outreach and effectiveness.
2025-06-28T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Mass Communication Technology, RMUTP https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jmctrmutp/article/view/273028 A Development of Information System for Lumber Sale, a Case Study of JidapaKhaMai Shop, Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province 2024-11-28T11:44:27+07:00 Nanthanit Erb-im nanthanit@aru.ac.th Kittipat Jangjit nanthanit@aru.ac.th
This research aims to 1) design and develop the information system for lumber sale, 2) evaluate the efficiency of the system, and 3) evaluate the satisfaction of the system. This study employed mixed-methods approach through both qualitative and quantitative research. The sample consisted of representatives from public authorities involved in inundation monitoring, inhabitants of riverside areas frequently affected by seasonal inundation and community leaders. Qualitative research revealed that inhabitants required media channels for inundation monitoring news through community news towers, as communicated by community leaders. This was consistent with results of quantitative research, which indicated that these inhabitants had media exposure to inundation news released via community news towers at a very frequent level (=3.89). Furthermore, most of them expressed media exposure need for news about inundation relief operations centers at a high level (=3.52). Guidelines developed for improving media channels to release inundation monitoring news in Ubon Ratchathani Province emphasized crucial role of community leaders as personal media in alerting inhabitants to inundation situations through community news tower. He argues that media is a form of public sphere that plays a key role in promoting democracy, as citizens are able to express their opinions on public matters freely and equally. There are also phenomena and studies that demonstrate that social media serves as a public sphere that empowers citizens even more. The article demonstrates specific occurrences in Thai society, pointing out that while citizens increasingly use social media to critique the state, state agencies also employ these platforms for surveillance and control. Furthermore, there is an “online witch hunt movement” that acts like the state, electronically monitoring and prosecuting numerous citizens. The article argues that, in Thailand, social media could be merely a “semi-public space”, because citizens cannot freely express their political opinions without state sanctions. The social and political context is crucial for creating a Public Sphere and developing democracy. It also concerns the meaning of “public” which should be discussed regarding what and who are included so that they can be critiqued through media democratically.
2025-06-28T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Mass Communication Technology, RMUTP https://so05.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jmctrmutp/article/view/274477 A Semiotic Exploration of Human Language: Nature, Characteristics, and Linguistic Equality 2025-04-17T11:56:27+07:00 Sarath Samaranayake samaranayake_s@su.ac.th
Human language is a complex semiotic system that facilitating communication and distinguishing humans from other species. This article examines human language through a semiotic perspective, incorporating foundational theories from Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Peirce. It investigates how signs, symbols, and interpretation shape linguistic communication and critiques notions of linguistic superiority by advocating for linguistic equality. The study synthesizes existing semiotic theories while incorporating recent discussions on multimodal communication and linguistic diversity. A case study illustrating semiotic principles in a real-world communication scenario highlights the practical application of semiotics, elucidating how messages are transmitted through signals (any message sent from one party to another) and channels (mediums used to transmit these signals). The findings emphasize the necessity of recognizing all human languages as equally valuable within their respective cultural contexts, rejecting the idea of linguistic superiority based on structural, historical, or biological factors. This study contributes to contemporary semiotic debates and language inclusivity by integrating theoretical and applied perspectives.
2025-06-28T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Mass Communication Technology, RMUTP
