CRIME REPORTING: DRAMA PLOT FROM REAL LIFE

Abstract

Crime reporting is investigative. Journalists must have access to the source of the event to investigate the facts. Full coverage of the news from the beginning to the end is intended for readers to understand the incident in order to be accurate and fair to all involved. This is like following the stories in the drama, with the story of the life of the characters involving in the event from start to finish. The similarity between the two types of narrative causes the society to raise the question as to whether or not the details of crime reporting can be a model of crime in case of the news consumers lacking critical judgement. It also seems not to honor the victims and their families. Crime reporters should be aware of the effects of the impacts by careful uses of illustrations and reporting words, and refraining from reporting full details of the crime in order to allow the crime victim to have space to return to society after the event is over.
