Abstract
A Study of Community Context for Developing Tourist Attractions in Lomsak Sub-district, Lomsak District, Phetchabun Province
The purposes of this research were to 1) study community context and then choose appropriate communities to develop as tourist attractions, 2) study indicators that qualify appropriate areas for development as tourist sites, 3) study the development processes in the tourist areas. The researcher conducted the study by selecting the population living in Lomsak sub-district, Lomsak district, Phetchabun province. Interviews with key samples such as the Lomsak mayor were conducted. Local people and visiting tourists were likewise interviewed in order to identify their needs and determine how their thoughts were relevant to area development of tourist sites in Lomsak sub-district.The results of the study showed that the site of Dongstan Park was selected to develop as an important tourist attraction in accordance with the policy to develop important tourist attractions, Further, it would be developed and managed as Dongtan Park floating market. The plan was viewed as being relevant to both the people’s and tourists’ needs. In addition, the indicator specifying that Dongtan Park should be developed as a tourist site was part of the Lomsak mayor’s development policy. The policy was entitled in the three-year plan of Lomsak municipality and also corresponded to the provincial development plan of Phetchabun. This theoretical concept was possible to achieve. Significant challenges must be met to develop Dongtan as a tourist site: the construction of a water reserving dam, arranging garden music, make the internet available around the park, construct toilets and parking, build day and night food stalls, provide litter bins, and to publicize with a tourist attraction signs. Finally, it would be necessary for local people to promote the park and be aware of its importance and benefits after it was developed as a tourist site.
