Environmental crime is an exploitation of natural resources. It is also unlawful acts of individuals, government, private organization, and community that cause harm and damage to the nature. The study found that environmental crime is unique unlike other crimes - its impacts such as air and water pollution in residential area affect the public health, not one particular person. The damage dies not occur immediately. It is challenging to find the people who responsible for the crime and legal proceedings are complicated. The victim has to file a lawsuit, review evidence, and become a fact finder - it can be a burden for victims to proof to the court that the culprit is causing real damage. It is a strenuous and perplexing in environmental crime cases.
The authors suggested that the environmental crime is not just the purview of law enforcement. It should have mechanisms and assessment tools involved in enforcing the environmental law. The environmental crime is a problem for government sectors such as the Ministry of Justice will have to adapt only. Therefore, the education institution should conduct researches about environmental impact, it will greatly benefit for society and community in the future.
