THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF METAL EMBOSSED THAI WISDOM PRODUCT A CASE STUDY OF SACRED FIG EMBOSSED

Abstract

This research aimed to study the need for product design and development of Thai wisdom metal sculpture-also the requirement and satisfaction. This is a case study and mixed method research. Qualitative target groups are experts in craftsmanship and Thai wisdom and a workshop group discussion of 15 people, the quantitative target group of 38 people, using the specific selection method. The instruments used for data collection were 5-level estimation questionnaires and questionnaires. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. The statistics used in the quantitative data analysis were mean and standard deviation. The results revealed that;

1. the design technique for metal embossed Thai wisdom product consists of several steps – drafting, shaping, and structuring of sacred fig; 2) Thai pattern design of sacred fig; 3) melt the metal in the crucible; 4) iron the metal using heat and cleaning; 5) forming size according to shape of sacred fig; 6) shape, pattern edging and nudge; 7) collect stripes and stripes to get the desired dimension; and 8) assemble the sacred fig embossed workpiece accordingly, which depends mainly on the skills of the craftsman.
2. The demand for metal embossed Thai wisdom product: a case study of sacred fig embossed overall is high level.
3. This research has resulted in a unique and distinctive that contributes to the added value of the work created. The opinions of the product case study were overall at a high level as well.
