EFFECTS OF THE STUDY OF PROBLUMS AND NEEDS OF TEACHERS’ TEACHING MATERIALS IN SMALL SCHOOLS UNDER THE OFFICE OF CHACHOENGSAO PRAIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA DISTIRICT 1 AND DISTRICT 2

Abstract

             The objectives of this survey research were 1) to study needs of teachers’ teaching materials in small schools under the Office of Chachoengsao Primary Educational Service Area District 1 and District 2, and 2) to investigate problems and solutions of teachers’ teaching material development in small schools under the Office of Chachoengsao Primary Educational Service Area District 1 and District 2. The sample consisted of 224 teachers in small schools under the Office of Chachoengsao Primary Educational Service Area District 1 and District 2. The research tools were the teacher questionnaire, the quality of research tools. Using content validity, language suitability (wording) and clarity (clarity) by experts .The research instrument was a teacher survey.  The statistics used in data analysis was descriptive statistics and content analysis. The findings were as follows: most of sample was female teachers 79.02%, the teachers who had academic title were 35.91%, the teachers in Thai Language Department were 73.21%, the teachers in Primary Six were 64.73%, the teachers under the Office of Chachoengsao Primary Educational Service Area District 1 and District 2 were 50.44% and 49.56% respectively.  The teachers in Science and Technology Department were the first rank of needs of teachers’ teaching materials of O-NET subjects, accounted for 30.36%. They would like to have teaching materials which were about solar system, ecosystem and human organ system as the first need of Primary Six, accounted for 85%.  The teachers in Social Studies, Religion and Culture Department were the first rank of needs of teachers’ teaching materials of non O-NET subjects, accounted for 46.88%. They would like to have teaching materials concerning application of Sufficiency Economy in daily life as the first need of Primary Six, accounted for 46.87%. The majority need of most teachers’ teaching materials was about thinking skill development, which was accounted for 37.94%.  Types of the most needed teaching materials were technology, video media and computer assisted instruction as 49.11%. With regard to the problems and solutions, it revealed that the teachers’ opinions on the main factor was the teacher shortage, accounted for 33.48%. Hence, the first solution was suggested that the teachers should create their own teaching materials and combine level classes, accounted for 34.82%.
