Fin Tech คือ การรวมกันของระบบการเงิน (financial) และเทคโนโลยี (technology) ที่นำไปใช้ในด้านการให้บริการทางการเงินที่กำลังมีการพัฒนาในศตวรรษที่ 21 Fin Tech เป็นกลุ่มธุรกิจที่นำเสนอบริการในช่องทางใหม่ ๆ เพิ่มจากหลักการที่เคยใช้ได้ดีในการสร้างสินค้าแบบเดิม ๆ ซึ่งอาจไม่เพียงพออีกต่อไป Fin Tech คือเทคโนโลยีที่มีประโยชน์ในการให้บริการทางการเงินหรือใช้เพื่อช่วยองค์กรในการจัดการด้านการเงินในระบบการดำเนินงาน ซึ่งรวมถึงธุรกิจที่กำลังเริ่มต้น (startup) ด้วย องค์กรด้านเทคโนโลยีใหม่หรือผู้ให้บริการเดิมใช้เทคโนโลยี Fin Tech เพื่อเสนอบริการทางการเงินแบบใหม่นี้ด้วยต้นทุนที่ต่ำกว่าและนำเสนอข้อแก้ไขจุดบกพร่องต่าง ๆ ที่ผ่านมา โดยใช้เทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนวัตกรรมและการเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมผู้บริโภค
