The Study of Figures of Speech in Song lyrics of Prof. Dr. Prasert Na Nakorn

Abstract
This research aimed to study the usage of figures of speech in Prof. Dr. Prasert Na Nakhon’s song lyrics. There were 29 songs used as a sample. Sujitra Jongsatitwatana’s criterion used in this research included 9 figures of speech: simile, metaphor, synecdoche, metonymy, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, oxymoron and paradox.
From the research, it was found that 9 figures of speech: simile, metaphor, synecdoche, metonymy, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, oxymoron and paradox, were used in Prof. Dr. Prasert Na Nakhon’s song lyrics, a simile was most frequently used, 17 phrases were found being used in the song, showing 26.5 percent. Next, 13 phrases of metaphor were found being used in the lyrics, showing 20.00 percent. The 12 phrases of personification were found being used, showing 18.46 percent Hyperbole. The 11 phrases of paradox were found being used, showing 16.92 percent. The 4 phrases of paradox were being used, showing 6.15 percent. The 3 phrases of onomatopoeia were being used, showing 4.62 percent. The 2 phrases of Synecdoche were being used, showing 3.08 percent. The 2 phrases of oxymoron were being used, showing 3.08 percent. Finally, the only 1 phrases were being used, showing 1.54 percent
