Legal Problems to Improve the Welfare for Thai Boxer

Appropriate welfare setting which is consistent with Thai boxersû way of life is able to promote high quality of life of the Thai boxers. In this article, the author studies legal problems relating to welfare provision of the Thai boxers provided in the Constitution of Thailand B.E. 2550, Boxing Act B.E. 2542, and the Unfair Contract Terms Act B.E. 2540. The aim of this essay is to suggest suitable guideline solutions concerning welfare provision in order to establish the stability for boxing profession.

With regard to the findings of this study, it is found that there are many problems on welfare provision for the boxers in Thailand, such as the unfairness of the Boxing Act B.E. 2542 on boxing, legal problems relating to welfare security of the boxers on accident insurance in the boxing competition, unfair outlet contracts, and unfair payment of compensation. The author suggests the guideline solutions to these problems by an amendment of the Boxing Act, B.E. 2542 section 3, 14, 15, 30 along with other relating regulations of the Boxing Commission that lead to obstacles in providing welfare setting for the boxers in Thailand. Such a move tends to provide boxers with the protections on the rights to freedom and welfare.
