The beginning of Standing Up to Respect the Flag that has Existed Since the Past to the Present

Abstract

Different countries have different culture whether it be languages, cultures, traditions, and folkways. This paper studies a history of standing up to pay respects to the flag as a tradition that bonds the nation.

According to literature survey, standing up to pay respects to the flag started since Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram was a prime minister. He wanted to lead the country; therefore, he finds the way to make a strong government and to administrate the country as long as possible by instilling the nationalism among the people. Back then, France claimed Thailand’s territory by force. Joining Japan to declare war on England and America encouraged Thais to support the government subsequently, the official state was adopted, which has guidelines for respecting the national flag in the 4th Nationalist Declaration on 14 September 1942 for more than 77 years. Considered to be the first important day that the Thai government has determined to stand upright to respect the national flag at 8:00 am and 6:00 pm officially an important starting point is a conversation radio program.
