Main Article Content
Abstract
This research Sub district Municipality. The sample group of 20 key informants. They included community leaders, people in the community, and representatives of government agencies. The data collection employed qualitative methods.
The results of the study were as follows. Those relevant agencies should raise awareness of the people in each community by encouraging them to compete in waste reduction. An award or prize could be offered as an incentive to a winning community. Moreover, there should be workshops to educate the people in the community on how to separate each type of household solid waste. With regard to the problems and obstacles in reducing the amount of solid waste in the community, the researchers discovered the followings. People in the community ended up consuming substantial food after viewing commercial advertisements. Consequently, they had satisfaction in daily consumption and generated unnecessarily significant amounts of solid waste. Additionally, people lacked the urge to carry out waste disposal because they assumed that it was the duty of government agencies. The habit of using plastic bags also produced a large amount of plastic waste in the community. The waste disposal method of incineration caused air pollution. There was no good quality incinerator facility that could completely destroyed all solid waste. As a result, residual waste remained and caused pollution problems in the community. The researchers, hence, purposed the following recommendations. Firstly, relevant agencies should engage personnel and officials in learning and strengthening the skills, knowledge and abilities. The goal is to manage and reduce the solid waste in the community to improve the health of the people in the Phon Phisai Sub district Municipality. Secondly, the results of the research studies should be adapted to be used as a concrete practice guideline. Thirdly, the authorities should continually encourage youth and households to segregate waste and emphasize the importance of garbage collection, cleanliness and orderliness. Lastly, there should be measures to reduce and segregate solid waste, as well as to drive the reduction operations and segregation of solid waste in the community.
