Good Governance Principle and Living the Good Life in Today's Society Affecting the Effectiveness of Private Higher Education Institutions in Bangkok and Metropolitan Area

Abstract

 The research purposes were (1) to study the good governance principle, living the good life in today's society, and the effectiveness of private higher education institutions in Bangkok and metropolitan area; (2) to study the good governance principle and living the good life in today's society affecting the effectiveness of private higher education institutions in Bangkok and metropolitan area; (3) to propose guidelines for effectiveness development of private higher education institutions in Bangkok and metropolitan area. This was the quantitative and qualitative research. The population was the students of private higher education institutions (universities) in Bangkok and metropolitan area. The sample group for quantitative research was the 400 students, and the research instrument was the questionnaire. The sample group for qualitative research was the 18 persons consisted of the 3 personnel of private higher education institutions and 15 students, and the research instrument was the in-depth interview form. The data analysis statistics were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis.


 The research findings were: (1) the performance by the good governance principle of private higher education institutions found the found the overall was at high level, the descending mean were the accountability principle aspect, the effectiveness principle aspect, the transparency principle aspect, the efficiency principle aspect, the responsiveness principle aspect, the aspect of rule of law principle, the participation principle aspect, the equity principle aspect, the consensus oriented aspect, and the decentralization principle aspect, respectively; and the living the good life in today's society found the found the overall was at high level, the descending mean were the aspect of good life in the democratic social framework, and the aspect of good life in the liberal capitalist economic framework, respectively; (2) the good governance principle in the efficiency principle aspect, the participation principle aspect, and the consensus oriented aspect versus the aspect of good life in the democratic social framework, and the aspect of good life in the liberal capitalist economic framework affected to the effectiveness of private higher education institutions in Bangkok and metropolitan area at statistical significance level .05; and (3) should use the good


governance principle as the guidelines in the management to increase the effectiveness further.
