DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH FOR LISTENING AND SPEAKING SKILLS LEARNING PACKAGES BASED ON ACTIVE-LEARNING APPROACH FOR THE TEACHER STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION IN A PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

The objectives of the research are: 1) to develop the effective English for listening and speaking skills learning packages based on active-learning approach for the first-year teacher students of a private higher education institution, 2) to compare listening and speaking abilities before and after using the learning packages, and 3) to study the satisfaction to the learning packages. The purposive sampling are 37-freshman teacher students. The instruments are the developed learning packages, the listening and speaking tests and the questionnaire. The data analysis is from the effectiveness of the learning packages (E1/E2) based on 80/80 criteria, mean, SD and pre-test and post-test scores, and the effectiveness index of learning achievement score and the score of satisfactory. The result shows that: the learning packages are effective as the mean of the tests while learning is 83.74 and after leaning is 88.33. The score of post-test is higher than of pre-test and the satisfactory to the learning packages is in high level.
