Abstract

This research on New Modular Closure Design for Sustainable Fashion aims to design a new type of closure. For modular fashion apparel, the steps are as follows: finding information on currently available closure devices; finding information on modular fashion clothing; and studying closures that fashion designers choose to use. Collection of data is provided by research document databases from internet media and information from the researcher's experience as a student advisor in the clothing design field. The researcher found a problem with the use of zippers in clothing design in a geometric modular system that cannot change the style of clothing in many directions. The researcher therefore made a design hypothesis based on the analysis of usability problems, design sketch and create prototypes of fastening equipment. Test performance in which fashion experts with experience in the fashion industry joined in testing their use, answer an interview and suggesting opinions. This question passed the IOC examination by three experts and was concluded to be a type two closure which is convenient to use and can be used in conjunction with sewing in the fashion industry. Experts chose strong plastic materials which are durable and effective in fastening. This sample of closures will be improved according to the recommendations of experts to develop a prototype of a more complete modular closure.
