Sa Paper to Contemporary Thai Painting: a Case Study of Creative Analysis of Thai Paintings on Sa Paper in Contemporary Thai Style

This article aims to study the history of contemporary Thai paintings on Sa paper in the traditional Thai style combined with the ancient civilization traces, which have influenced and led to contemporary Thai paintings on Sa paper in the present era. It also presents the process of creating Sa paper works that have been adapted and developed to create unique forms and identities. It focuses on the analysis of two creative works: the painting “Memories of Life” created using mixed media techniques on Sa paper, measuring 130 x 200 centimeters, and the painting “Beauty in Memories of Life” measuring 120 x 190 centimeters. These works study and analyze the concepts that clearly convey the roots of the way of life of local fishermen, traces of tools and equipment in daily life, such as boats, nets, ropes, fishing nets, fish traps, etc.
In order to see the highlights and uniqueness in terms of aesthetic beauty, including the differences between the development of contemporary Thai paintings on paper techniques in the traditional Thai style that emphasize stories of life, the use of symbols to create works, including the use of powder colors, natural colors on Sa paper and mixed media surfaces, using the analysis of art theories and related documentary data. The results of the analysis of the creative works on Sa paper techniques are as follows: The conclusion is that the results will show the differences and development from the traditional Thai style, but still show the complete value and aesthetic beauty
