Abstract

Managerial research and development (R&D) studies have been criticized for being out of touch with social reality, which has led to limited applications of the research findings for the public benefit. This review article, however, asserts that corporate R&D can significantly strengthen organizational competitive advantage. In order to bridge the research gap between theory and practice, this paper examines the distinctions between pure and actionable management research and proposes recommendations for resolving the dilemma. Possible solutions specifially related to the Thai management context are also discussed.
