Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence the exercise of the right to vote among individuals belonging to different generations, specifically Generation X, Y, and Z, and to compare the voting factors between these generations. The study used an online questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 444 individuals. The statistics used for data analysis consisted of 1) descriptive statistics: percentage, mean, standard deviation, and 2) inferential statistics: one-way ANOVA, and Fisher's Least Significant Difference (LSD).

The results of the study showed that people exercised their vote due to the following factors: 1) policy of the candidate (mean = 4.10, standard deviation = 0.732); 2) citizenship (mean = 4.08, standard deviation = 0.595); 3) socio-economic factors (mean = 3.89, standard deviation = 0.783); 4) political parties (mean = 3.64, standard deviation = 0.656); 5) qualifications of a candidate (mean = 3.51, standard deviation = 0.751); 6) receiving political information (mean = 3.43, standard deviation = 0.737); and 7) political socialization (mean = 3.19, standard deviation = 0.853). The study also found that these factors that affect the voting behavior of Gen X, Y, and Z differ significantly with a statistically significant level of 0.000.
