Focus and Scope

The Political Science and Public Administration Journal accepts research articles, academic articles, review articles, and book reviews in both Thai and English. The content should be related to political science, governance, international relations, and public administration.

Each article undergoes a thorough review process by at least three reviewers through a double-blind peer-review system. (except for special articles and invited articles, which do not need to undergo quality assessment by reviewers).

Additionally, the journal may publish special issues or supplementary issues (not more than two issues per year).

Peer Review Process

The process of article selection and publication review has the following steps:

1. The editorial board will initially review articles based on their relevance to the journal's content scope, interest level, presentation of new knowledge, and completeness according to academic standards. Duplicate content will be checked using the Turnitin plagiarism detection program.

2. Articles that pass the initial editorial board review will be sent to at least three qualified individuals in the relevant field, as announced in the Criteria and Procedures for the Appointment of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors (4th Edition) 2021, using the Double-blind peer review system (reviewers do not know the authors' names, and authors do not know the reviewers' names).

3. The review process according to steps 1 and 2 should not exceed 3 months. The editorial board will inform the authors of the review results, and if the review process takes longer than specified, the editorial board will notify the authors of the delay.

4. In cases where revisions or improvements are necessary, authors should revise the articles and submit them to the editorial board within 15 days from the date of receiving the review results.

5. Checking the correctness of language, abstracts in English, and article content, in the case of English-language articles, is the responsibility of the authors. Authors must ensure correctness according to grammar rules and English language usage before submitting the articles and throughout the review process. The journal reserves the right to reject article publication if authors do not correct English language errors according to the editorial board's recommendations.

6. The editorial board will proceed with copyediting and producing of articles that have passed the review and revision process. The editorial board will inform the authors of the preliminary publication schedule.

Publication Fee Policy

The editorial board of the Political Science and Public Administration Journal, Chiang Mai University has resolved to revise the publication fee policy. The details of the announcement are as follows:

  • The publication fee for external contributors (those outside the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Chiang Mai University) : 3,500 THB per article (equivalent to US$110, £80, €100 per article).
  • Faculty members and graduate students of the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University are exempt from publication fees.

Payment Process for Article Publication Fees

  1. Authors must pay the publication fee after their article has undergone an initial review by the editorial board. The journal staff will inform the authors of the payment methods via the ThaiJO system. The fee is to be paid only once.
  2. Upon receiving proof of payment, the editorial board will forward the article to experts for peer review to assess its quality for publication.
  3. The editorial board reserves the right to withhold refunds in the following circumstances:
    - The article does not pass the peer review process and is rejected for publication.
    - The author requests the withdrawal of the article from the review process.

It should be noted that the payment of the publication fee does not guarantee that the article will be accepted for publication in the Journal of Political Science and Public Administration.

Publication Frequency

published 2 times a year (January-June and July-December)

The journal may publish special issues or supplementary issues (not more than two issues per year). 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Journal History

"Political Science and Public Administration Journal," originally named "Political Science Journal," was published in 1981 by the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University. Objectives are to present and exchange academic information and political ideas to create a mutual learning process with readers, serving as another academic function of the educational institution.

In 2010, it changed its name to "Political Science and Public Administration Journal" and has been managed by the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University.

The objectives are as follows:

1. To be a platform for disseminating academic works of professors, scholars, graduate students, and the general public.

2. To promote and encourage research, development, and dissemination of knowledge in political science, international relations, and public administration.
