The Health Needs of the Residents of Ban Mai Subdistrict, Pathum Thani Province

Abstract

In this descriptive research investigation, the researchers study (1) the health needs of the residents; and (2) the relationship between the health behaviors and the health needs of the residents. The sample population consisted of 100 residents in Ban Mai subdistrict participating in academic service activities using the method of a simple random sampling by drawing lots without replacement. The research instruments consisted of a demographic data record form, a 20-item health behavior evaluation form, and a 20-item health needs evaluation form with the content validity of .76 and .88 and coefficients of .78 and .75, respectively.  Findings are as follows: 1. The highest proportion at 45 percent of the residents exhibited health behaviors at a high level (M = 3.36, S.D. = .49). 2. The health needs overall were at the highest level of 70 percent (M = 4.63, S.D. = .43). 3. The health behaviors negatively correlated with the health needs of the residents at the statistically significant level of .05 (r = .502). Therefore, health personnel must promote the health behaviors of the residents in a systematic manner. In addition, attention must be paid to their health needs in order to provide guidelines for preventing health problems in an efficient manner.
