The Management of New Normal Learning Environment for Cadets

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) examine the management of learning environment for cadets and 2) identify the guidelines for the management of new normal learning environment for cadets. The research sample was 278 cadets of Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA). The research instruments were 1) questionnaires, based on the concept of Valtonen, et al. on learning environment for college students and 2) focus group discussion. The statistics used to analyze the data was frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis.


The research findings revealed that:


  1. The management of learning environment for cadets was found at the high level, ranking from the highest mean as follow: pedagogical practices, physical learning spaces, information and communication technology in learning.

  2. The guidelines for the management of new normal learning environment for cadets were: 1) CRMA shall follow the health protocols of the Ministry of Public Health, support the maintenance of school infrastructure, keep clean, up-to-date and quality; 2) CRMA shall provide the ICT support system, including computers, communication gadgets, CAI, Internet wireless access points, online database and interactive learning program; 3) CRMA shall encourage teachers to integrate interdisciplinary learning management, implement student-centered, active learning and integrated-learning pedagogy, use CAI, transform to leaning facilitator role, apply technology in teaching, monitoring and evaluating, adjust class hours and use module-based learning, integrate interdisciplinary teaching and learning suitable for the future, emphasize on practical application more than theoretical knowledge, and focus on creating and developing the skill set aligned with the future trends and 21st Century demands.
