Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop an instructional model using design thinking as a base to create curriculum innovation, 2) to study the efficiency of the instructional model using design thinking as a base to create curriculum innovation, and 3) to study the effectiveness of the instructional model using design thinking as a base to create curriculum innovation including competencies in designing curriculum innovations, academic achievement and satisfaction with the instructional model. The target group consisted of 12 first year graduate students in the Educational Innovation Program in Faculty of Education and Development Sciences, Kasetsart University at KamphaengSaen who had registered for the course of 02182581 in the second semester of academic year 2021. The study instruments were composed of an evaluation form, a test and a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed in terms of percent, average mean and standard deviation. The study results revealed that 1) an instructional model was composed of 4 factors: 1-model principles, 2-model objectives, 3-model steps including to empathize with others, to define the problem, to ideate or to form an idea of the problem -solving, to create a prototype and to test the prototype and 4 –model measurement and evaluation; 2) the efficiency of the instructional model was at the high level; 3) the effectiveness of the instructional model resulted in that the graduate students had the competencies in designing curriculum innovations at the high level, the academic achievement at 81.94 % and the satisfaction with the instructional model at the highest level.
