The Effects of KWL Plus in Enhancing English Reading Comprehension Skills for The Eleventh Graders

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) compare students’ English reading comprehension before and after applying KWL Plus technique and 2) study the students’ opinion towards the KWL Plus technique. The samples used in the study were the eleventh graders studying in the second semester of the academic year 2021, consisted of the 42 students which is selected by a clutter random sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of 1) four lesson plans with KWL Plus technique 2) an English reading comprehension achievement test and                                3) a questionnaire inquiring the students’ opinion towards KWL Plus technique. The data were analyzed by Mean (), standard deviation (S.D.) and t-test dependent. The results of the study were 1) The students’ English reading comprehension skills after using the KWL Plus technique was significantly higher than before using the KWL Plus technique at the .05 level. 2) The students’ opinion towards the KWL Plus technique was highly positive.
