Expectations of Employers Toward the Doctor of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital

Background: The Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital in Thailand graduates medical students who enter the hospital workforce. Therefore, exploring what employers expect from the medical education curriculum can help improve the Doctor of Medicine program.

          Objective/ purpose: The objective of this study is to explore the expectations, strengths, opportunities, and recommendations for the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital's Doctor of Medicine program from the perspectives of employers of medical graduates.

          Design and Methodology: This research used secondary data from the education department's project to study about employers' perspectives on medical graduates. It collected both quantitative and qualitative data through questionnaires and focus group discussions to explore the strengths of the Siriraj’s Doctor of Medicine program, areas for improvement, desired distinctive qualities of Siriraj graduates, and essential competencies for medical graduates.

          Results: The perspectives gathered from employers of medical graduates reveal three key insights. First, the key strength of the Doctor of Medicine program is that graduates demonstrate comprehensive knowledge that meets professional standards. Second, the primary area needing improvement is effective communication skills. Third, employers expect Siriraj medical graduates to possess robust lifelong learning skills.

          Conclusion and Implications: Employers have specific expectations when hiring medical graduates. They want these graduates to achieve their goals and meet the needs of the workplace. noted that everyone sets personal goals to reach success. This research indicates that, from the employers' perspective, they want that graduates from Siriraj will have an important quality which is lifelong learning skills.
