This research examines the historical development and strategic transformation of an Interior Design curriculum at a private international university in Thailand, responding to shifting educational priorities, regional accreditation frameworks, and global academic trends.
Using a qualitative historical-descriptive case study approach, the study draws on official curriculum documents from 2011, 2016, 2021, and 2023, internal planning reports, national and ASEAN policy standards, and related academic publications. Both qualitative and quantitative documentary analysis methods were applied to trace curriculum structure, course integration, credit reduction, and the introduction of senior-year specialization tracks. The analysis examined patterns of change and aligned findings with institutional goals and accreditation requirements.
Findings reveal that curriculum restructuring across three phases increasingly emphasized international readiness, fast-track progression, and alignment with professional expectations. Course consolidation and flexible final-year pathways enabled more personalized, career-oriented learning experiences. These shifts reflect strategic responses to external pressures, institutional positioning, and evolving student profiles.
