Thai Government’s Role in Affecting the Number of Thai Population in 1971-2021

Abstract

This article aims to examine the demographic statistics in Thailand over the past 50 years in order to see changes in population size and structure, especially in terms of age factors, which makes the average age of Thai population increase continuously. In 1970, the average age of Thai people was only 19 years. On the other hand, nowadays, we have become an aging society more obviously. At the same time, this phenomenon indicates that Thailand has a declining fertility rate which leads to various economic and social problems that may arise in the future. This article will focus on politics and governance in terms of government policies and work that determines such changes and show the impact of this change as well. To prove that apart from the social value factors or behavioral patterns of the population has changed. The role of the government is also an important factor in having children that change over time.
