THE EFFECT OF USING A GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES PACKAGE TO DEVELOP SOCIAL ADAPTATION OF INTELLECTUAL DISABLE STUDENTS IN GRADE 9 AT A SCHOOL, UTTARADIT PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to compare the social adaptation of the experimental group students before and after using a guidance activities package to develop social adaptation, and 2) to compare the social adaptation of the experimental group students before and after using the package. The research population consisted of 18 students with intellectual disabilities in grade 9 at a school in Uttaradit province during the first semester of the 2022 academic year. The employed research instruments were 1) a guidance activities package to develop social adaptation; 2) a scale to assess social adaptation with a 0.81 reliability coefficient; and 3) a social adaptation observation form. The employment statistics for data analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation.


The research findings were as follows: 1) the post-experiment social adaptation of the experimental group students, who used the guidance activities package to develop social adaptation, was significantly higher than their pre-experiment; and 2) the post-experiment social adaptation of the experimental group students, who used the guidance activities package to develop social adaptation, was significantly higher than their follow-up.
