MANAGEMENT OF ELDERLY ALLOWANCE IN KHLONG SAM SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, KHLONG LUANG DISTRICT, PATHUM THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to examine: (1) the management of the elderly living allowance, (2) the factors influencing the management of the elderly living allowance, and (3) the proposed guidelines for managing the elderly living allowance in Khlong Sam Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. The study employed a mixed-methods approach. The quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 398 elderly residents in Khlong Sam Subdistrict, selected using stratified random sampling based on proportional allocation. The qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with key informants, including the mayor, the chief executive, and deputy executives of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The statistical tools used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean (𝑥̅), standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis and interpretative summary. The research findings revealed that: (1) the aspect of life completeness was rated at the highest level (𝑥̅ = 4.96); (2) social security was also rated at the highest level (𝑥̅ = 4.90); (3) hypothesis testing showed no significant differences in opinions on elderly allowance management across different personal factors, while the physical condition factor had a high positive correlation with allowance management (r = .722**); and (4) some elderly individuals faced housing problems due to the lack of consistent care from family members, and some expressed a preference for residing in welfare institutions.
