DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION KEY COMPONENTS OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the era of digital transformation, various organizations are facing challenges in struggling to keep pace with these changes, including the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affecting all sectors. Organizations must confront the New Normal approach and adapt to digital technology and various technologies. Many academics believe that digital transformation capability is a crucial key that will help organizations navigate through changes rapidly. Educational institution hotels are established to serve as practical training for students in hotel management, or related fields, providing them with the expertise to run hotel businesses. This serves as venues for Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE). Furthermore, these hotels operate as business entities, generating substantial revenue for their affiliated educational institutions. Therefore, organizations must adapt and elevate their capabilities to remain competitive in the business landscape during the digital transformation era.
This article is a comprehensive review and synthesis of the literature on the concept of digital transformation, the application of digital technology in the hotel industry, and the management of educational institution hotels. The objective is to identify the components of digital transformation that impact educational institution hotels, enabling administrators to make informed decisions and prepare their organizations for an effective and successful digital transformation. The author proposes a conceptual framework identifying six key components of digital transformation: 1) Customer Experience, 2) Operational processes, 3) Data Management & Analytics, 4) Digital Technology & Infrastructure, 5) Digital People & Culture, and 6) Student Digital Engagement in Organizational Transformation.
