Abstract

The present study aimed to translate and validate the Thai version of the Academic Self-Regulation Scale (ASRS) among Thai university students. The original ASRS was translated using a forward–backward translation procedure in accordance with established guidelines and reviewed by bilingual experts. A total of 900 Thai undergraduate students participated in the study. Of these, 200 participants were randomly selected for exploratory factor analysis (EFA), while the remaining 700 participants were used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted to examine the underlying factor structure of the Thai ASRS. The results supported a clear five-factor structure with all factor loadings exceeding .50 and satisfactory communalities. The scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency reliability (α = .95). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was subsequently performed to further evaluate the construct validity of the Thai ASRS within a comprehensive measurement model that included theoretically related constructs. The measurement model demonstrated good fit to the data, "x" ^"2" /df = 2.598, CFI = .951, TLI = .946, and RMSEA = .048. Convergent validity of the Thai ASRS was further supported by significant positive correlations with academic self-efficacy and gratitude, and a significant negative correlation with academic procrastination. Overall, the findings indicate that the Thai version of the ASRS possesses sound psychometric properties and is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing academic self-regulation among Thai university students.
