THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POLICY AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT FACTORS AFFECTING THE ELDERLY: A CASE STUDY OF NONG BUA SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY UDON THANI PROVINCE

Abstract
This research article aimed to: 1) examine the level of the general conditions of older persons in Nong Bua Subdistrict Municipality, Udon Thani Province; 2) investigate the relationships among administrative management policies of Nong Bua Subdistrict Municipality, Udon Thani Province; and 3) propose administrative management policies for older persons in Nong Bua Subdistrict Municipality, Udon Thani Province. This study employed a quantitative research methodology. The sample consisted of older persons aged 60 years and above residing in Nong Bua Subdistrict Municipality, Udon Thani Province. The researcher selected the sample from a population of 4,320 older persons living in the municipal area. The sample size was then calculated using Taro Yamane’s formula, resulting in a total sample of 366 older persons in Nong Bua Subdistrict Municipality. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
The research findings revealed that, when considering the relationships among policy-oriented administrative management factors by dimension, ranked from the highest to the lowest, the dimensions were learning for older persons, development promotion, elderly care volunteers, assistance and welfare for older persons, and housing repair. The analysis of the relationships among policy factors showed that all dimensions had high positive correlations. In particular, learning was correlated with elderly care volunteers; development promotion was correlated with learning; assistance was correlated with development; and housing repair was significantly correlated with several dimensions, namely assistance, development, and learning. These findings reflect the necessity of integrating local policies, volunteers, budgets, and databases in order to develop the quality of life of older persons in a comprehensive, continuous, equitable, and sustainable manner.
