Abstract
This qualitative research aims to analyze the local wisdom of the Mudmee cotton products of the Thung Pho Thale Nikhom Weaving Group, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, and to study the conservation and restoration of the local wisdom of the Mudmee cotton products of the Thung Pho Thale Nikhom Weaving Group. The main informants were 33 members of the weaving group. Data were collected through focus groups interview. Also, this present study employed the content analysis to interpret the local wisdom of Mudmee cotton products. The results revealed that there is a process of connecting with ones’ own experiences, creating wisdom, and making things manageable with better intelligence. The Nikhom Thung Pho Thale weaving group has Isan beliefs, culture, and traditions. The weaving method is for household use in the ritual from birth to death; for example, weaving is prohibited on the day of the cremation ceremony. It is connected to the beliefs of the people in the community, namely the Naga or snake pattern that represents wealth and the preservation and restoration of local wisdom of Mudmee cotton products. Additionally, awareness has been raised among local people to realize the value and importance of local wisdom and to promote as well as support activities according to tradition and culture including supporting the establishment of a community museum. To show the way of life and history of the community, this will create knowledge and pride in the local community.
