Abstract

This study looked at factors which influenced the effectiveness of teacher training, according to student level, faculty, and academic program. A multi-level causal model was constructed, with Specht's method applied in order to examine the congruence of the model and evident data. Participants included 1,598 students, 125 deans and vice-deans, and 472 lecturers. The multi-level analysis was completed by HLM.

Causal factors at the student level were found to be background knowledge, teacher professional attitudes, and student behavior. At the program level there was a single factor: lecturers' teaching quality. At the faculty level, factors influencing training effectiveness were: the dean's administration of the curriculum, teaching practicum, and educational quality control.
