Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRES SYSTEM FOR BEHAVIORAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCH

This research involved the development of an online system for the creation and delivery of cognitive and affective instruments.  Test items may use one of five formats: open-ended, multiplechoice, checklist, ranking, and rating.  The system will save item responses in a format common to standard data analysis programs, and supports the collection of data via e-mail.  Research steps included preliminary investigations, system analysis, system design, software development, systems testing, implementation, and evaluation. The system was developed using PHP and MySQL running from a Linux server.  Evaluation of system performance was conducted by forty graduate students at the Faculty of Education, Burapha University, Thailand. The system was found to work well.  Evaluators judged it to be easy to use, precise in operation, with good supporting documentation.  The system may be useful to those working in the field of CBT, computer-based testing.
