The Integrated Strategy for the Development of Sustainable Tourism to Maintain the Tourist Destination of Hua-Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan

Abstract

        The objectives of this study were 1) to find the guidelines for sustainable tourism development in order to maintain the tourist destination of Hua Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan Province; 2) to find the guidelines for creating the cooperation from various sectors in order to develop sustainable tourism and maintain the tourist destination of Hua Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan Province; and 3) to create the integrated strategies for sustainable tourism development in order to maintain the tourist destination of Hua Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan Province. This study was a mixed methodology research consisting of both quantitative and qualitative methods. For quantitative method, the data was collected from 400 Thai and foreign tourists. For qualitative method, in-depth interviews were conducted for collecting data from the key informants including government agencies, private sector, relevant government authorities and academics and content analysis and data triangulation were also performed. The results showed that the guidelines for sustainable tourism development in order to maintain Hua Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan Province as the tourist destination consisted of 1) economic development, 2) social development, 3) cultural development, and 4) environmental development. The integrated strategies for sustainable tourism development to maintain Hua Hin District, Prachuap khiri khan Province as the tourist destination were successfully created which consisted of 4 strategies: 1) promoting and maintaining Hua Hin District as the tourist destination of sustainable tourism; 2) development of tourist attractions and services; 3) integrated sustainable tourism management; and 4) promoting the participation in all sectors in tourism development in order to maintain the tourist destination of Hua Hin District.
