Editing Design for The Short Film “Spirit of Smart KKU”

Abstract

This article is based on the creative work that designed the editing for the short film “Spirit of Smart KKU”, a research project funded by Khon Kaen University. with the objective 1. To disseminate understanding of the Smart Farm system of the Faculty of Agriculture, KKU and 2. To create a good image for Khon Kaen University. The main target group of this research is Khon Kaen University personnel and community.

Editing in the movie "Spirit of Smart KKU" has 4 main steps 1. Preparing the footages 2. Software preparation 3. Rough editing 4. refining timeline. The techniques used are as follows. Image Resizing (Crop) Montage, Action and Reaction, Cut Away, Trimming, L-Cut and J-Cut, Transitions, Footage Speed Adjustment. Image stabilization and sound editing. This entire process was implemented based on the idea that the editing must help the film to Smoothly tell the story and convey the important “messages” to the audience. The result are 3 short films with total length 87 minutes 48 seconds, divided into part 1 "About Our Heart", length 22 minutes 29 seconds, part 2 "Hold Your Hand" length 35 minutes 25 seconds and part 3 "Fight for U" length 29 minutes 54 seconds.

From the evaluation of 109 questionnaires, it was found that 29.4 percent of the respondents viewed the image of Khon Kaen University as Have a good atmosphere and environment, 24.8 percent viewed that there is a diversity of people and ecosystems and 50.5 percent that are more interested in smart farms.
