Abstract

The study of Pandanus Odortisimus Linn. basketry handicraft wisdom the craftsmanship wisdom in Pa-Nan Pandanus weaving reflects the community spirit, with the objective to investigate and collect knowledge on Pandanus Odortisimus Linn. basketry handicraft wisdom to decode the meaning of spirit from abstract to tangible. The methodology involves data retrieval through research, books, textbooks, interviews, and field visits to examine the environment, lifestyle, and products in selected areas of continuous craft production of Pa-Nan Pandanus weaving in Southern Thailand, specifically in the provinces of Krabi, Trang, and Phang Nga, leading to the data analysis process divided into two parts: 1) Knowledge in the craft of Pandanus Odortisimus Linn. basketry handicraft wisdom involves using natural materials found abundantly in the community, processed to produce shiny, durable, and mold-resistant Pandanus Odortisimus Linn. threads well-suited to the local geographic conditions using heat to control moisture; and 2) Interpreting the meaning of community spirit through Pandanus Odortisimus Linn. craft highlights that the beauty of this craft stems from natural elements in the environment, creatively fashioned for practical use within the community’s cultural and traditional framework and the lifestyle of the Muslim community. This instills pride and a collaborative spirit among family members in the crafting process, generating a sustainable income that extends to commercial recognition and acceptance. Importing the significance of this spirit to the younger generation is crucial for the perpetuation and application of this wisdom.
