The creation of this work of art aims to achieve the following objectives:
1) To study patterns, colors, and techniques used in the making of Nang Yai. 2) To explore techniques for creating Nang Yai patterns on leather sheets. 3) To design Nang Yai patterns for women's leather bags. 4) To create prototypes for women's leather bags.
The process of creating as well as studying pattern and colors of Nang Yai at the Nang Yai Museum of Wat Sawang Arom, Singburi Province starts with exploring techniques for creating Nang Yai patterns on cowhide and coloring techniques. This is done by studying the carving technique, exploring Nang Yai patterns, and creating designs for women's leather bags with Nang Yai. A total of 10 sets were produced. Then expert designer will help to analyze and select 1 set to be used as prototypes. To createprototypes, there will be a study of shapes and the assembly process for making women's leather bags. A set of prototype products of Nang Yai leather bags for women consists of 3 pieces: 1 Clutch, 1 Saddle Bag, and 1 Duffel Bag with handles and shoulder straps.
The result of the creation process reveals that the design of Nang Yai patterns for women's leather bags is practical and suitable. To present a beautiful pattern derived from intricate leather carving, the creator has incorporated the key elements of the carved pattern, colors, and surface textures. Those factors are rearranged to create a unique composition that is beautiful and practical in everyday use. The design focuses on studying the shapes of women's leather bags that are currently popular. Durable materials are being used. This offers an alternative to customers who appreciate product novelty, value the intricate patterns of Thai art and also enjoy its functionality. In the making of prototype products for women's leather bags, it was found that the overall customer satisfaction towards the prototype of the women's clutch bags is high (ðĨĖ = 4.08). The prototype of the saddle bag for women's bags also received a high overall satisfaction level (ðĨĖ = 4.10), while the prototype of the large-sized duffel bag with handles and shoulder straps for women's bags also obtained a high overall satisfaction level (ðĨĖ = 4.14). The leather bags that are made by incorporating Nang Yai Pattern are beautiful and functional. The designs and shapes are modern. The products are suitable and practical for daily life as they combine beauty, value, and functionality.
