Result of A Set of movement therapy activities to enhance performing arts skill of children with Down syndrome at the tertiary education.

Abstract

This research is experimental research. The purpose of this research is to develop a set of movement therapy activities for the enhancement of performing arts skills of Down Syndrome children in tertiary education, and to study the result of using a set of movement therapy activities for the enhancement of performing arts skills of Down Syndrome children in tertiary education by studying the results before and after using movement therapy activities.

The population used in the research was purposive sampling, consisting of 2 students with Down Syndrome at Bachelor of Arts Program in Performing Arts, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University by using a One Group Pretest – Posttest Design experiment which is a set of dance therapy activities to enhance performing arts skills for children with Down syndrome at the tertiary level, The duration included 16 activities, 60 minutes each, twice a week, 8 weeks in total, after considering the compliance values (IOC) from all 3 experts, it was concluded that the activity sets were consistent and appropriate, An overall was at a very good level.

The results of the research found that the results of the use of movement therapy. activities found that Children with Down Syndrome are skilled in performing arts which consists of body movements, space movement, time movement, and style movement was statistically significantly higher than before the experiment at the .05 level.
