Abstract

The academic article on “Time of Remembrance In Art Works” The objective of this study is to examine the dissolution of time and space within human memory through the installation art of Christian Boltanski, Chiharu Shiota, and Mayumi Kuri. The key focus is on retrospection-how past and present elements manifest within spaces shaped by the mind and evolving states of being. These installation works are not confined to a single artistic object; rather, their significance lies in the integration of various elements within the surrounding environment, reflecting identity, past experiences, and memory.

These three artists offer perspectives through reflections, allowing audiences to perceive the human experience shaped by personal spaces and memories. Whether these memories arise from fleeting impressions or deeply traumatic experiences, they contain significant implications for artistic expression. Through a creative process that harmonizes with spatial intention, the artists carefully curate and organize their works using diverse materials as symbolic representations, assigning meaning to objects to construct their unique artistic identities. Artistic creation, for them, serves as the only means of self-reflection, with the essential condition that such creation must be grounded in subjective reality
