Multisensory Perception of Thai Alphabet to Promote Visually Impaired People

The research aimed to: 1) study the difficulty and improvement of Thai alphabet learning resources for visually impaired people, 2) design and develop learning resources of Thai alphabet for visually impaired people, and 3) measure the satisfaction towards learning resources of Thai alphabet.
The populations/ samples were people with completely and partially visual impairment including 8 males and 1 female, totally 9 people. Research instruments consisted of interview form and satisfaction questionnaire conducted within the area of the Lighthouse for the blind, Nonthaburi. The methods of data analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The results from the study of difficulty and improvement of Thai alphabet learning resources for visually impaired people showed that the materials of the alphabet should have more durability and safety for usage. Regarding the design and development of learning resources of Thai alphabet, QR code was created and scanned for voice. Wood, natural material, was adopted as a major component to form belle letters with appropriate size and color that were good for visually impaired people. Besides, the findings of satisfaction survey towards learning resources of Thai alphabet revealed that wooden peg board game received the highest satisfaction score (X̅ = 4.44), followed by block play game (X̅ = 4.22) and painting stencil game (X̅ = 3.56).
