Thai Puan Banphue: Wisdom Based to the Creative Product Developmemt

Research project objectives 1) To study and learn about the intangible cultural heritage of the Thaiphuen ethnic group in Ban Phue, and apply it to the design of creative products 2) To design creative products that reflect the context of the Thaiphuan community and 3) To evaluate the design of creative products The research was conducted in the area of the Thaiphuan Museum in Ban Phue, Udon Thani Province. Workshops were held on the intangible cultural heritage of the Thaiphuan ethnic group in Ban Phue, and discussions were facilitated with community groups and local philosophers in 4 fields :The making of Khan Mak Beng, Language, attire and cuisine (Khaw Nga Kno). Data was collected through semi-structured interviews to derive design guidelines, the designs were evaluated by 100 tourists using accidental sampling.
The research findings revealed the following: 1) The Thai Phuan people in Ban Phue District, Udon Thani Province, have a cultural identity including traditions, language, and local handicraft. They preserve their heritage through traditional crafts, ceremony, and lifestyle customs. Additionally, there is a local dish called "Khaw Ngao Kho," distinctive attire, and the unique weaving of "I-Pho" checkered cloth, 2) Souvenir products were designed using the SCAMPER principle, emphasizing contemporary aesthetics, ease of use, and reflecting the local identity of the Thaiphuan community in Ban Phue. The designs were inspired by cultural elements, including: Inspiration from Khan Mak Beng, attire, the letter, cuisine (Khaw Ngao Kho), Thaiphuan cultural heritage pattern 1 (arranged in an orderly manner), and Thaiphuan cultural heritage pattern 2 (arranged freely). 3) Overall satisfaction with the creative products was at a high level, with mean = 4.36. The availability of a diverse range of products highlights the potential of the Thai Phuan community in Ban Phue, Udon Thani Province was at the highest level of satisfaction with mean = 4.57.
