Problem Conditions in Screening and Prevention the Students’ Bullying Behavior in Islamic Private Schools, Yala Province

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate problem conditions
in screening and prevention of the students’ bullying behavior in Islamic
private schools, Yala province. The data were collected through an in-depth
interview with 10 school administrators, 20 teachers, and 10 teacher
counselors. The research instrument was a structured interview that was
analyzed for content validity by experts. Content analysis was conducted
using logical comparisons of concepts, theories, and research reports
coupled with contexts. The research findings revealed that the problem
conditions in screening and prevention of the students’ bullying behavior
in Yala Islamic private schools has 4 main conditions namely: 1) the school
has no specific policy on screening and prevention of the students’ bullying
behavior, 2) the school does not have instruments for screening and
prevention of the students’ bullying behavior, 3) the teachers still lack
knowledge and understanding about screening and prevention of the
students’ risky behavior, and 4) administrators and teachers think that the
students’ bullying behavior is a normal behavior of childhood.
