The Role of Thaksin University in Socially-Engage Research: Attitudes of Administrator

Abstract

Co-creation of knowledge within university research and community, toward education
management, research and academic services for social stability, prosperity and sustainability are the
university vision which aims “to serve society”. The objective of research studies attitudes of
administrator for socially-engaged research. In-depth, qualitative interviews use for the main group, eight
people; member of university council, university administrators and faculty/ institute administrators.
SWOT analysis is taken up from a development perspective and strategy. The results indicate that even
though the university vision has aims “to serve society”, the socially-engaged research in faculty is vague
to create with useful community development following the university vision. Therefore, to drive
“University to serve society” is necessary a clear management structure, integration work, connection
work, participation work, focus area for socially-engaged research and the continuing area based to
develop sustainable well-being.
