Development of Training Courses to Promote Morality and Ethics for Children and Youth in Surat Thani Province

Abstract

This research aimed to development of training courses to promote morality and
ethics for children and youth in Surat Thani Province by studying social conditions of children and youth in Surat Thani provincial communities and to construct and develop training programs and evaluate its implementation of them by using qualitative research. The instruments were questionnaire, observation, group discussion, and workshop. The data was collected from 4 target groups, which were 10 learners, 30 workers, 30 related persons, and 100 trainees whit the total of 170 persons. The results revealed that 35 percent of samples had drug problems, 30 percent of samples faced misuse of social media, 20 percent of them had quarrel, 10 percent had extravagance, and 5 percent were in football gambling. Construction and development of training program were divided into 4 steps: 1) analyzing problems and needs, 2) designing and creating training program, 3) applying the program to trial, 4) evaluating. The resuts of training program inplementation revealed that the trainees were knowledgeable and changed their attitude towards the 5 causes of ruin: drugs, misuse of social media, quarrel,
extravagance, and football gambling. Those trainees behaviours were improved by having more gratitude, honesty, economizing, and discipline. Construct and develop training program divided by 4 steps which are 1) Analysis problem and needs 2) Designing and creating training program 3) Applying the program to trial 4) Evaluating. The evaluation of the implementation of the training program revealed that the trainees were knowledgeable and changed their attitude towards the 5 causes of ruin: Drug, misuse of social media, controversy, extravagance and football gambling. Those trainees behavior were improved by having more gratitude, honestly, economizing and discipline.
