Abstract

This article aims to study the methodology of nostalgia in Thai research (B.E. 2003-2020). The data was collected from an electronic database published on the website, thesis, research papers, and academic articles. According to the studying of 74 academic paperwork, nostalgia can be categorized into four types; yearning for Thai rural lifestyle, yearning for youthful feelings, yearning for the past prosperity, and yearning for the separated society. The study also found that nostalgia is used for four different aspects; confronting an identity crisis, enhancing mental health, reviving the cultural heritage, and promoting tourism. The study of nostalgia theory is not famous in the first decade, but afterward, it became more well-known. However, in the last decade, the yearning for Thai rural life became the most interested, showing more prevalent in the theories and also reflecting the image of changing society.
